The
different types of plan are explained below-
(i) Site
plan
(ii) Layout plan
(iii) Index plan
(iv) Key
plan
(v) Services plan.
1. Site Plan -Site plan is
a general layout of the site drawn as a line diagram to a small scale along
with the surrounding plots of land & adjoining roads to place the site and
to represented the means of access. The orientation of the building along with
the North direction is represented in the site plan. In site plan the position
of sewer lines & water etc., may also be provided. Site plans are drawn to
a scale of 1 cm = 5 m to 1 cm = 10 m
in the working drawings.
2. Layout Plan -For
a project consisting of a number of various structures, a layout i.e. the
comparative positions of all the various units to be constructed land is
represented to a scale generally 1 cm =
10 m to 1 cm = 20 m and is called a layout plan. This helps to form a
general idea and also facilitates the construction of the various units at the
corresponding positions. In the layout plan the orientations distances between
the structures, sizes & locations of the various units are represented. In
the layout plan the position of the boundary wall, main road, surface drains,
sewer line, pipe line or electric lines are represented with proper notations.
The north direction line is particularly represented in one corner of the
layout plan in order indicate the geographical orientation of the various
units.
3. Index Plan -The
general layout of a new town or colony representing the position of roads,
park, market, hospital etc., along with the various plots of ground with plot
or building number is represented in single lines. For the guidance of
outsiders such a plan is generally fixed up at the central or entrance park of
a new colony. The index plan gives a general idea of the entire project and to
locate any plot of land.
4. Key Plan -As in the
case of staff quarters and as the plans of all the buildings cannot be
accommodated on one sheet, a building project may consist of a number of blocks
or buildings. A key plan on a small scale is drawn. The specific block building
whose details are drawn on a separate Sheet is represented by shading on the
key plan.
5.Services Plans -The services plans consist of all
details of plumbing services and building and also elevations, plans and
sections of sewage disposal system and private water supply, if any.
